Extra Credit Black Beard

What do you know of Black Beard? Well in my research the legend of this man is not as embellished as many others in his line of work. He indeed was a live and die at sea style of pirate. He was described as "looking like the devil" in his battles he often fought, or simply showed himself, wearing a big feathered tricorn, and having multiple swords, knives, and pistols at his disposal. It was reported in the "General History of the Pirates" that he had hemp and lighted matches woven into his enormous black beard during battle. This man also was alleged to have about 14 wives. This piece is in my opinion the lost gem of his legacy. In more recent new it was confirmed that his ship the Queen Anne's Revenge was found on the coast of North Carolina. The findings of Apothecary weights stamped with tiny fleurs-de-lis and tiny bells all pointed to the later official idea that the shipwreck was that of Blackbeard's ship. This man lived a life of a thousand men and if the saying a famous man never dies has any validity then Blackbeard surely is with me now as I write this until next time you scallywags.

Punishing a Pirate

Would you put a pirate in time out? Or what about raising your voice that would surely calm the fiery passions of a grown man whose career choice is that of taking over merchant and government ships at the price of a few members of the ship brutally murdered. I've said that to say the punishment of an individual who lives this lifestyle should instil a common fear in a group of men whose resume includes murder. Acts like Keelhauling or Marooning would deter even the toughest pirates from turning against their respective captains and the reminders of those who dared try is the irremovable blood stains at the front of the ship or in the bellies of any creature lucky enough to be underneath a ship at the time.

Plight of a Prisoner

Dear Elizabeth,

Hello Wife I'm writing this from the comfort of a warm port cottage to which feels like a plantation bed in comparison to where I was earlier in the month. On my travel to the Caribbean my ship was ambushed by a pirate ship that lead to me believing I may never see your rosy cheeks and beautiful smile again. After ridding the ship of any valuables and killing a good amount of my men these barbarians took myself and a few others prisoner. While being slung onto the ship I was surprised to see a women amongst these savages; though she hid it well her large breasts made it hard for any disguise to suffice. I, thinking she would be the kindest of the bunch, plead to her speaking of you Jason and Sarah that I needed to make it back to you. She laughed in my face her eyes were cold and mirrored the thousand mile stare of a man whose soul had left. After staining my nose with her rancid breath turned to the Captain and asked, "Should I shoot this pathetic piece of shit now Calico" to which he replied "Save your gunpowder" never have a felt so insignificant than that moment. This women for the rest of the trip attempted time and time again to compel the captain to just kill us rather than risk us being rescued and turning against them. I prayed everyday I would be able to see you again and my prayers where answered. We were saved by a royal warship and that retched women was later identified to me as Anne Bonny and the Calico whom was Captain was allegedly her lover. Of all the torture I endured at the hands of these Neanderthals I wouldn't wish the hell of being the handler of that woman on my worst enemy.

Henry Morgan

The legend of Henry Morgan. Indeed it is true that many men lead a larger than life existence, but Henry Morgan's life in many accounts was much grander in text than it was in reality. Henry Morgan is painted in many accounts as a famous swasbuckling pirate whose outlaw ways made him an enemy of all government officials in the Carribean. While in fact Morgan was a buccaneer and captain of a English supported and reckognized vessel. He may have been a cruel man, he may have been an ambitious man, He may have been a swasbuckling man, but a man hated by all governments he was not. In fact he was given several comindations from the British government.He was knighted in 1674 and was awarded the position of the Lieutenant Governor position in Jamaica in 1675. He also didn't go out in a ball of hellfire like other pirates at his death it was said that, "almost no buccaneers in the Caribbean were active." Although his glory is solidified his history from source to source is can be as sinister looking as ---------> that Henry Morgan or as  gentle and noble as Morgan below
